Dear ComiRades,

Welcome Back to TCU. And it is a real welcome that we are promising. Yes, from now onwards, TCU is going to be really, really active in terms of blogging over here and that is going to be in 2 different styles.

The book review, book introduction will continue and also the comic cuts segment will be divided into 2 and a new segment will be introduced from tomorrow onwards. Kindly do wait for it.

And beginning this post, the comic cuts segment may not have much of my blabbering. They will be self explanatory and hence minimalistic approach is chosen over here.

Dinakaran Diwali Special Issue – Special Article on Tamil Comics & it’s Present state:

Dinakaran is Tamil’s 2nd highest selling daily news paper and they have a custom of issuing a special giant sized book for the special occasions like Pongal, Diwali etc. And most of the time they do cover almost all the topics in that book. The latest special book from Dinakaran has ticked all the boxes and also a special box with tha name being Tamil comics. And who Better than our old ComiRade YuvaKrishna than to write it?

Yes, the latest Diwali special contains a 5 page special article on Lion Muthu comics and the next phase of it. Have a read:

20 Comic Cuts 47-News 47: இரத்தப் படலம், பெருங்களத்தூர் புத்தகக்கடை, ரஸ்கின் பான்ட்டின் ஃகிராபிக் நாவல் மற்றும் பல செய்திகள்

காமிரேட்ஸ்,

இந்த காமிக் கட்ஸ் - செய்திகள் பதிவானது பல நாட்களாக என்னுடைய கணினியில் தூங்கிக் கொண்டு இருந்தது. இந்த பதிவில் சொல்லப்பட்ட காரணங்களால் இவ்வளவு தாமதமாக வலையேறுகிறது. வழக்காமான தாமதத்திற்கு நான் காரணம் என்றாலும், இம்முறை அந்தப் பழி என்மீதில்லை என்ற வரைக்கும் சந்தோஷமே.

இரத்தப் படலம் - லயன் காமிக்ஸ் ஜம்போ ஸ்பெஷல் - தினகரன் வெள்ளி மலர் சிறப்பு கட்டுரை:  சுமார் நான்கு வாரங்களுக்கு முன்பு ஒரு சனிக்கிழமை மதியம் நம்முடைய லயன், முத்து காமிக்ஸ் சந்தாதாரர் தோழர் சிவராமன் அவர்கள் எனக்கு கைபேசியில் அழைப்பு விடுத்திருந்தார். வழமை போல அப்போதும் ஒரு மீட்டிங்கில் இருந்து தொலைத்த நான், சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து அவரிடம் பேசினேன். இரத்தின சுருக்கமாக பேசும் அவர், இரத்தப்படலம் பற்றிய சில விவரங்களையும், லயன் காமிக்ஸ் அலுவலக தொலைபேசி எண்ணையும் கேட்டு வாங்கிக்கொண்டு, பிறகு பேசுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி விட்டார். அதன் பிறகு நானும் அந்த சம்பவத்தை மறந்து விட்டேன்.

இது நடந்து இரண்டு வாரம் கழித்து ஒரு புனித வெள்ளிகிழமை அன்று தினகரன் வெள்ளிமலரை படித்தால், பின்னட்டையில் இந்த அற்புதமான கட்டுரை (காமிக்ஸ் பற்றிய நியூஸ் வந்ததால் அந்த வெள்ளி, புனித வெள்ளியாக மாறியது என்பதை சொல்லவும் வேண்டுமோ?). அடுத்து நான் சொல்லப்போகும் வசனத்தை பாட்ஷா படத்தில் ரஜினிகாந்தின் தம்பியாக வரும் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் சஷிகுமார் போல படிக்கவும். சாதாரண ஒரு எடிட்டர் எழுதிய கட்டுரை அல்ல இது. நாடி, நரம்பு, ரத்தம், சதை எல்லாவற்றிலும் காமிக்ஸ் வெறி ஊறிப்போன ஒருவராலேயே இப்படிப்பட்ட கட்டுரையை எழுத முடியும்.

இந்த கட்டுரை வெளியான அன்று அடியேன் இந்தியத் தலைநகரில் இருந்ததாலும், அங்கு ஸ்கான் வசதிகள் சரிப்படாததாலும் உடனடியாக பதிவிட முடியவில்லை. ஈரோட்டின் காமிக்ஸ் குபேரர் ஸ்டாலின் அவர்கள் இந்த பதிவில் இதைப்பற்றி இட்ட பதிவை படிக்க இங்கே கிளிக்கவும்.

18 Comic Cuts 27-News 27: Comics News from the latest issues of Kumudam, Puthiya Thalaimurai & Anandha Vikatan

Welcome Back. This is the 1st post in the month of Feb 2011 and hopefully many more to follow. Now, then: TCU is getting many a personal mails and SMS’s on posting too many Comic Cuts/News Posts. However, when there are News items to be made aware, it becomes our duty not to ignore them. Anything and everything related with Tamil comics will be recorded over here and this trend will continue in the near future as well and also in the times to come. Hence, let us get into another on of our customary News Posts: Comic Cuts 27.

We all know that the Editor of Tamil weekly magazine Kumudam (Official website: http://www.kumudam.com/) is a ComiRade and he has already read the Lion Comics Issue No 208 – XIII Ratha Padalam Jumbo Special issue. He even wrote about this in his celebrated Q & A Section last week and that was blogged in TCU over HERE. After that particular book was on stands, many a ComiRade felt very happy and they thought this is the ultimate honour for the issue. To follow up that, this week’s Kumudam has carried a letter in response to that XIII Jumbo special write up in Arasu padhilgal. One Mr M.G.Bharath from Dindukkal (Tamil Nadu) has written a letter to the editor of kumudam that he also wants to read that comics. Such is the writing style of Arasu that a non-comic reader is also tempted to read it.

Yes, in one of it’s star reply (Director Bala) section, one person has asked about the favourite author. For that question, The controversial director says that he loves the long running daily strip of Kanni Theevu from the Daily News paper Thina Thanthi & as he does not know the author, he cannot say who his favourite author is. The weekly magazine Puthiya Thalaimurai has already showed it’s penchant for Comics by articles and book reviews. Here is one more to add to that list. Mr M.P.Udhaya Suriyan (Thala to us) has reviewed this cartoon book on one of the famous leaders of Tamil Nadu – Arignar Anna. This book contains all the caricatures and cartoons drawn over the life time of the leader & is a must buy for the party men.

43 News 20 - Comic Cuts 20: Muthu Fan & Steel Claw in Lime light – Dinakaran, Anantha Vikatan & Kungumam

Welcome back. After another long break, TCU is posting a Comics News post. However one good thing to announce is that, from here onwards, every Monday ComiRades will get a new Comics News (Comic Cuts) post. Now, now. There are certain people like Dr 7 who may say that regularity is not a thing to be associated with Tamil Comics & TCU. Well, all we can say is, we are entering into a new age. From now onwards, expect a lot of posts from TCU and competitions as well. Get ready Folks, TCU is back. To make matters more spicy and glamorous, Next Monday TCU will feature a news article about a current heroin reading comics.

News 1: We all know that Steel Claw is the No.1 Hero of Tamil comics and will remain so for more years to come, as the Editor is keeping him alive through various reprints. Even if there is any doubt, here is further proof for that. The No.1 Tamil daily New Paper Dinakaran has a weekly supplement on Sundays named “Vasantham – வசந்தம்” and it features a Q & A page as well. In last week’s Vasantham, there was a question about the book which will never bore the readers. Without hesitation, the Editor has answered that “Steel Claw Stories - இரும்புக் கை மாயாவி காமிக்ஸ்". News 2: Anandha Vikatan: Last week’s Anandha Vikatan featured an interview with the Director Prabhu Solomon, who has just recently gave a hit film named “Mynaa – மைனா” in a segment named Energy Pages. In that, he describes that the only memories of his childhood is filled with “The Steel Claw” and the adventures he carries across the world. TCU will be meeting with him very soon and will let his comments be published over here in TCU. It is heartening to know that he is also among the selected few who reads comics in the tinsel town along with Actor/Director PonVannan, Director A.R Muruga Doss, Art Director Trotsky Marudhu, Director Simbhu Devan, Writer S. Ramakrishnan etc.

News 3 – Anandha Vikatan: In that same issue of Anandha Vikatan, there was another feature which was related to Comics. Anandha Vikatan has a segment named “Welcome Page – வரவேற்பறை” in which they introduce a new web site, a new Blog, a new book, C.D, etc to the readers based on the popularity and the recency. In this issue, they have chosen our beloved Muthu Fan’s blog as the blog of the week and they have the customary mention about the Spider man over The Spider.  All said and done, it feels great to see our Master’s name in the book. Hats off to you, Sir. TCU wishes the Man with the Golden Pen.

June Has Been a Very Demanding Month for Yours Truly, Both in terms of Professional and Personal Life. And that Can be seen in the Number of Posts That has been made in TCU, The Least Number of Posts in any Month since TCU’s Inception. The Date was 4th March 2007 and Yours Truly was About to meet another Comics Fan and when informed that TCU’s On the way, That Particular Gentleman Said that “I Have a ComiRade with Me & He is From the Same Pin Code as that of You” and Gave the Phone To Ayyampalayam Sir. Guess What our first Conversation over Phone Was? He Immediately Tipped on the Chutti Vikatan Cover Story and TCU Bought That Magazine and Met Him That Night Itself. Till Date it remains the only issue of that Magazine that TCU Has Bought.

In Fact, That 1st ever meeting was so memorable for another reason as well. He Gave the Information on the Availability of 300+ Indrajal Comics for sale from a Comics Book Seller. As it was very late, The Seller Closed the Shop and Went Off. TCU Bought them the very Next week and proudly completed the Indrajal English Set and Guess what? While Carrying them to Home, Ayyampalayam Sir Visited Yours Truly’s Home for the 1st Time. As a Memorabilia, TCU Has given that particular Chutti Vikatan Magazine to Ayyampalaym Sir & It remains with Him.
