0 முன்னு – இந்தியாவின் மிகச்சிறந்த கிராஃபிக் நாவல்

 

குறிப்பு: இயற்கை பாதுகாப்பிற்கான சர்வதேச ஒன்றியத்தின் (ICUN) அருகி வரும் உயிரினம் என்று பட்டியலிடப்பட்ட ஹங்கூல் என்ற மான் காஷ்மீரின் மாநில விலங்காகும். பல ஆயிரங்களில் இருந்த இந்த மானினம், 2008ஆம் ஆண்டு எடுக்கப்பட்ட கணக்கெடுப்பில் வெறும் 160 ஆக அருகியுள்ளது.

நசீர் அஹ்மத்தின் காஷ்மீர் பென்டிங் (1997) முதல் இன்றுவரை காஷ்மீரைப்பற்றி, காஷ்மீர் மக்களைப்பற்றி குறிப்பிடும்படியாக ஒரு சில கிராபிஃக் நாவல்கள் வந்துள்ளன. சோக இழையால் பின்னப்பட்ட இவையனைத்துமே காஷ்மீர் மக்களை பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களாக, அநீதி இழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களாக மட்டுமே சித்தரித்தவை. ஆனால், தன்னுடைய வாழ்க்கையில் நடந்த சம்பவங்களை மட்டுமே கோர்த்து, ஒரு மாநில மக்களைப்பற்றி எழுதப்படும் கதை, நேரிடை விமர்சனமாக இல்லாமல், சம்பவங்களைப்பற்றிய ஒரு பார்வையாக மட்டுமே இருக்கமுடியுமா? ஒரு 350 பக்க புத்தகத்தினை / ஒரு இனத்தின் சோகத்தினை ஒரே ஒரு அட்டைப்படத்தின் மூலம் விவரிக்க இயலுமா?

முடியும் என்று காட்டுகிறார் மாலிக் சஜத். “முன்னு – காஷ்மீரத்து சிறுவன் (Munnu a Boy From Kashmir)” என்ற தன்னுடைய முதல் கிராபிஃக் நாவலில் அப்பா, அம்மா, சகோதரர்கள், சகோதரிகள், அக்கம் பக்கத்திலுள்ளோர் என்று காஷ்மீர் மக்கள் அனைவரையுமே ஹங்கூல் மான்களாக சித்தரித்துள்ளார். அதே சமயம் காஷ்மீர் மக்களைத்தவிர மற்ற அனைவரையும் வழக்கமான மனிதர்களாகவே வரைந்து, காஷ்மீர் மக்களை அழிந்து வரும் உயிரினங்களாக, ஆழமான ஒரு உருவகத்தின் மூலம் அட்டையிலேயே கதையை சொல்லி விடுகிறார். இப்படியாக அட்டைப்படத்திலிருந்தே ஜெயிக்கத் துவங்கி விடுகிறார் மாலிக் சஜத்.

முகத்தில் அறையும் நிஜமும் நிழலும்: நீண்ட நாட்களாகப் பிரிந்திருந்த ஒரு பள்ளித் தோழன் நம்மைச் சந்தித்து, தோள் மீது கையைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டு அவனது வாழ்க்கைக் கதையைச் சொல்வதைப் போலிருக்கிறது இந்தக் கறுப்பு வெள்ளை கிராஃபிக் நாவல். சகித்துக்கொள்ளக் கஷ்டமான விஷயங்களைக்கூட எளிமையாகச் சொல்ல முடியும் என்பதற்கு இது அத்தாட்சி.

ஒருவருடைய வாழ்க்கையில் நடந்த சம்பவங்களின் அடிப்படையில் ஒரு மாநில மக்களைப் பற்றி ஒரு பார்வையாக வெளிப்படுகிறது இந்தக் கதை. இந்த 350 பக்க கிராஃபிக் நாவலில் ஒரு இனத்தின் சோகத்தை நாவலின் அட்டைப்படமே சொல்லிவிடுகிறது.

அதைச் செய்து காட்டியவர் மாலிக் சஜத். ‘முன்னு காஷ்மீரத்துச் சிறுவன்’ (Munnu a Boy From Kashmir) என்ற தன்னுடைய முதல் கிராபிஃக் நாவலில் அப்பா, அம்மா, சகோதரர்கள், சகோதரிகள், அக்கம் பக்கத்தில் உள்ளவர்கள் என்று காஷ்மீர் மக்கள் அனைவரையுமே ஹங்குல் மான்களாகச் சித்தரித்துள்ளார். அதேநேரம் காஷ்மீர் மக்களைத் தவிர மற்ற அனைவரையும் வழக்கமான மனிதர்களாக வரைந்து, காஷ்மீர் மக்களை அழிந்துவரும் உயிரினங்களாக, ஆழமான ஒரு உருவகத்தை அட்டையிலேயே பளிச்சென வெளிப்படுத்திவிடுகிறார். அட்டைப் படம் தொடங்கி நாவல் முழுவதும் தான் நினைத்ததை ஆழமாக உணர்த்துகிறார் மாலிக் சஜத்.

குடும்பத்திலேயே இளையவரான முன்னுவுக்குச் சிறு வயதிலேயே ஓவியத்தின் மீது ஆர்வம் ஏற்பட அவரது தந்தையின் தொழிலும் ஒரு காரணம். தன்னைச் சுற்றி நடக்கும் சம்பவங்களின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை உணர ஆரம்பித்த முன்னு, தன்னுடைய ஓவியங்களின் மூலமாக மக்களுடன் உரையாட விரும்புகிறார். 14 வயதில் சம்பளம் எதுவும் பேசாமல், பத்திரிகையில் கேலிச்சித்திரம் (கார்ட்டூன்) வரைய ஆரம்பிக்கிறார் முன்னு. அவரது வாழ்க்கையில் இரண்டு முக்கியச் சம்பவங்கள் நடைபெறுகின்றன.

சம்பவம் 1

காஷ்மீரத்து நாளிதழ் ஒன்றில் வந்த கேலிச்சித்திரத்தைப் பார்த்துக் கோபமடையும் ராணுவ கமாண்டர், கேலிச்சித்திரத்தை வரைந்தவரைக் கைது செய்ய ராணுவ வீரர்களை அனுப்புகிறார். ஆனால், அந்த ஓவியர் பள்ளியில் இருப்பதாகச் சொல்லப்பட, உடனடியாக வீரர்கள் அங்கு விரைகின்றனர்.

வரைந்தது ஓவிய ஆசிரியராக இருக்கலாம், அதனால் பள்ளி முடிந்த பிறகே கைது செய்ய முடியும் என்று காத்திருப்பவர்களுக்கு, அதிர்ச்சி காத்திருக்கிறது. அந்த அரசியல் கார்ட்டூனை வரைந்தது 16 வயது பள்ளிச்சிறுவன் என்று தெரியவர, ராணுவத்தினர் திகைக்கின்றனர். கைது செய்வதற்கான வயது வரம்புக்குள் இல்லாததால், வெறும் கையுடன் திரும்பிவிடுகின்றனர்.

சம்பவம் 2

காஷ்மீரின் புகழ்பெற்ற ஓவியராகத் தன்னை நிலைநிறுத்திக்கொண்ட முன்னுவுக்கு டெல்லி இந்தியா ஹேபிட்ட‌ட் மையத்தில் ஓவியங்களைக் கண்காட்சிக்கு வைக்கும் வாய்ப்புக் கிடைக்கிறது. 21 வயதில் முதன்முறையாக டெல்லிக்கு வரும் முன்னு, ஒரு இன்டர்நெட் கஃபேவிலிருந்து நாளிதழில் அடுத்து வர வேண்டிய கார்ட்டூனை ஸ்கேன் செய்து அனுப்பிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் போதுதான், இரண்டாவது சம்பவம் நடந்தது.

செப்டம்பர் 13, 2008. டெல்லி குண்டுவெடிப்புச் சம்பவம் நடந்த நாள். ஆனால், முன்னுவுக்கு வாழ்க்கையின் மிகவும் மோசமான நாளாக அது அமைந்துவிடுகிறது. உள்ளே நுழையும்போதே காஷ்மீரத்து இஸ்லாமிய இளைஞன் என்பதால் சந்தேகப்பட்ட இன்டர்நெட் கஃபே உரிமையாளர், குண்டு வெடிப்புச் சத்தம் கேட்ட உடனே போலீசுக்குத் தகவல் அளித்துவிடுகிறார். அவர்களும் சீக்கிரமே முன்னுவைக் கைது செய்தனர். தான் ஒரு ஓவியன் என்று விளக்கியும் எந்தப் பயனும் ஏற்படவில்லை. முன்னு ஸ்கேன் செய்துகொண்டிருந்த ஓவியத்தைப் பார்த்துச் சந்தேகம் வலுக்க, உடனே சிறையிலடைக்கின்றனர்.

பென்சிலைவிட ஒல்லியாக இருந்த அந்த 21 வயது ‘தீவிரவாதி’யை தாங்கள் விரும்பிய உண்மையை வரவழைக்க போலீஸார் அவர்களுடைய பாணியில் விசாரிக்க ஆரம்பிக்கின்றனர். பின்னர் ஒருவழியாக உண்மை தெரியவந்து, முன்னு விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்டார்.

 

அன்று ஒரு முடிவெடுக்கிறார் முன்னு. தன்னுடைய அடையாளம் ஒரு காஷ்மீரத்து இஸ்லாமியன் மட்டும் அல்ல என்பதை உலகுக்குச் சொல்ல விரும்புகிறார். தீவிரமான ஓவியப் பயிற்சியுடன் மூன்று ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு தன்னுடைய வாழ்க்கை வரலாற்றையே ஒரு கிராபிஃக் நாவலாகப் படைக்க ஆரம்பித்தார். ஆம் அந்த முன்னு வேறு யாரும் அல்ல. இந்த கிராஃபிக் நாவலின் ஆசிரியர் மாலிக் சஜத் தான்!

ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் தன்னைத் தனிமைச் சிறையிலடைத்துக் கொண்டு, குடும்பத்தினரைக்கூடப் பார்க்காமல், வரைய ஆரம்பித்தார். உணவுகூட ஜன்னல் வழியாகவே கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. இப்படியாகத்தான் இந்தப் புத்தகம் பக்கம், பக்கமாகச் செதுக்கப்பட்டது.

 

ஹார்ப்பர் காலின்ஸின் 'ஃபோர்த் எஸ்டேட்' பதிப்பகம் மூலமாகக் கடந்த ஆண்டு இங்கிலாந்தில் வெளியிடப்பட்ட இப்புத்தகம், ஆண்டு இறுதியில் இந்தியாவிலும் வெளியிடப்பட்ட தகவல் தெரிந்தபோது, சஜத் அதை நம்பவே இல்லை. தன்னுடைய முதல் புத்தகத்தின் மூலமாக அழியாப் புகழைப் பெற்ற தலைசிறந்த படைப்பாளிகளின் பட்டியலில் சஜத்தும் இணைந்துகொண்டார்.

ஒரே கதையில் உலகம் தொட்டவர்

இந்தியாவில், கடந்த 60 ஆண்டுகளில் பல கிராபிஃக் நாவல்கள் படைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. நர்மதை நதியின் சோகத்தை கிராபிஃக் நாவலாகச் சொன்ன ஒரிஜித் சிங் முதல் சமீபத்திய ஆண்டுகளில் நம்மை அசர வைத்துவரும் சுமித் குமார் வரை பல அசாத்திய திறமைசாலிகளின் படைப்புகளை நாம் கண்டிருக்கிறோம். ஆனால், இவர்களில் எத்தனை பேர் ஜப்பானிய மாங்கா காமிக்ஸ் பிதாமகரான ஒசாமு தெசூகாவைப்போல, உலக அளவில் முதல் கிராபிஃக் நாவல் படைப்பாளியான வில் ஐஸ்னரைப்போல வரலாற்றில் இடம்பிடிப்பார்கள் என்று தெரியவில்லை. மாலிக் சஜத் ஏற்கெனவே இந்தியாவின் ஆகச் சிறந்த கிராஃபிக் நாவலைப் படைத்துவிட்டார். இதற்குப் பிறகு அவர் எந்த படைப்பையும் நமக்கு அளிக்கவில்லை என்றாலுமே கூட, இந்த ஒன்று மட்டும் அவரது அசாத்திய திறமையை நமக்கு பறைசாற்ற உதவும்.

ஹார்ப்பர் காலின்ஸ்சின் 4^th Estate பதிப்பகம் மூலமாக 2015ஆம் ஆண்டு முதலில் இங்கிலாந்தில் வெளியிடப்பட்ட இப்புத்தகம், ஆண்டிறுதியில் இந்தியாவில் வெளியிடப்பட்ட தகவலைச் சொன்னபோது, சஜத் அதை நம்பவே இல்லை. தன்னுடைய முதல் புத்தகத்தின் மூலமாக அழியாப்புகழைப் பெற்ற தலைசிறந்த படைப்பளிகளின் பட்டியலில் தன்னையும் இணைத்துக்கொண்டார் சஜத்.

15 TCU Presents . . . 08: Tinkle Star – Tamil Comics Magazine

Dear ComiRades,

Welcome Back. It’s been very, very long time since we introduced Tamil Comics & Graphic Novels related to Tamil. So, we take this opportunity to revive this series with the wonderful news that the 2nd volume of the Tinkle Star is out on stands from Yesterday onwards, Officially.

For those who came in late, Tinkle Magazine is spreading its wings in regional languages and that precisely is the reason behind the launch of 2 regional language editions, Hindi and Tamil. Though these magazines were launched in December itself, the respective second issues were made available yesterday only. Let us get into the post with some sample images and details.

Tinkle Star 01: Dec 2014

Through Friends (Distributors, Translators etc) we were informed in November itself that Tinkle is coming out with a Tamil Magazine. So, the eagerness to see the issue was increasing day by day and on the 1st of Dec 2014, we saw the 1st ever issue of Tinkle in Tamil. It was priced as INR 25/- and for a 80 Multi colour Page book, it was a steal. The size was also so compact that TCU liked the format and design of the book instantly.

TCU was informed that there was an Advertisement proclaiming the launch of Tinkle Stars was placed in The Hindu News paper. Unfortunately yours truly couldn’t find the one & was still wondering how it was informed to the readers.

Of course there were some constraints and issues with respect to Translation and printing (and let’s talk about that in the later part of the post), the issue was more closer to the one for which we were yearning for so long. Here is the editorial of the first issue:

The Book was stacked with comics stories and they were categorised into three segments:

• Tinkle Stars (Suppandi, Shikari Shambu, Kalia The Crow, Tantri the Mantri, Pyare Lal etc)
• Tinkle Stories (Folk Tales, regional submissions from readers, award winning stories etc)
• Filler Segment (Spot the differences, Tinkle Q & A, Do it Yourself)

Tinkle Stars 02: March 2015

After the launch of the first issue, there was not much of communication from the publisher. In certain important shops in Chennai, these books were made available only from Christmas onwards, thereby hampering the possibility of making some noise. Even in the much sought after Annual extravaganza called Chennai Book Fair, the visibility of the Tamil variant was minimal, to say the least.

Even after that, there was not much information. Though TCU has learnt that the second issue will be irrespective of the sales outcome of the same. Because even while printing the first issue, the second one was also printed. It was only a matter of time before the second one was made available for sales & that particular day happens to be Yesterday, the first of March.

Now that we have seen at least 2 issues of the Tamil variant, here are the pros & cons of these 2 issues:

Strengths:

• Fantastic Independent Stories (Like the Ruskin Bond Story in 2nd Book)
• Established Stars such as Suppandi, Kalia, Shambu & Pyare Lal make it a sought after book
• The Packaging & designing of the issues are near perfect. Especially the printing, which is awesome
• The point that it is available in Major railway stations & popular book shops (Thanks to Higginbotham's)
• The price of INR 25/- is a steal when you consider that we have 80 fantabulous pages.
• The Translation was not a speed breaker, Thanks to the already established Translators of ACK Media

Weakness:

• The Tagline in the Cover design was laughable. Especially the the way the words were merely translated & thereby reviving the popular phrase “Junoon Tamil” which was used to mention the Google style robotic translation, without knowing what is what in Tamil. This can be done by an 8th standard student & we don’t require an editorial set up for this.
• It that was a joke, then the translation for “Special attraction” as சிறப்பு கவன ஈர்ப்பு was what? Am searching for words. And believe me, these where on the cover in both the issues. If the Editor has to be credited for the success, then in this case, the Editor has to be blamed for this faux pas.
• There was no mention about the periodicity about the issue. At no place it was mentioned that whether it was a monthly or quarterly of anything else.
• The Mail id & contact number in both books were, to say the least, a Joke. If Giving a Mumbai local number For a Tamil Magazine was a crime, then what can be said about giving the mail id in Tamil? (That was caused by the basic amateur error of Typing in English in a Tamil Keyboard).
• Lots of Spelling mistakes, Punctuation errors and other silly stuff through out the book.
• There was no info about the book anywhere. If there is any Marketing strategy involved, then it has to be somewhere in Mars or Moon or otherwise in Pakistan. Yours truly has not seen any promotional or information about the launch or availability of these books.
• The Same Index Format & Editorial page repeating in the second issue as well (Not to mention the mail id fiasco as well).
• Lack of awareness on the editorial front about the characters. All the Tinkle stars were already established in Tamil through the magician named VanduMama in 1984 itself. For the next 10 odd years, these characters were household names in the Tamil speaking homes. Consider the wonderful & aptly rhyming names of Tinkle stars:
• Kalia the Crow – Kakkai Kaali (காக்கை காளி)
• Tantri The Mantri – Thandhirakkaara Mandhiri (தந்திரக்கார மந்திரி)
• Shikari Shambu – Vettaikkara Vembu (வேட்டைக்கார வேம்பு)
• These names were much easier to follow and already established. A Mere Google search would have helped. However, consider the Grammatically flawed names chosen by the Publisher:
• Kalia The Crow – kaagam kaaliya (காகம் காலியா) in Tamil, the Name must always be காளி & Not காலியா, even if to name if fully, it must have been காளியா only and not as given.
• Tantri the Mantri – Thandhiri engira Mandhiri (Again an error prone naming). The actual meaning of the character inspired by Iznogoud is Mantri is a Tantri. However the meaning of the trranslated name is Tantri also known as Mantri.
• Shikari Shambu – Am tired. Shall we pass? Anyway, lets make it the last one. So here it goes. Shikari is not a Tamil word at all. When you have a wonderful word called வேட்டைக்காரன் in Tamil, why would you forcibly insert a word from Hindi lexicon?

Hoping that ACK Media & the editorial staff take a note from the above and make sure that the third issue has none of these amateurish errors. The ideal thing would be to appoint someone like N. Chockan or Athisha or someone like Kiruthika as the consultant and then go ahead. Remember, it is not a cell phone or any other product that you are selling here. It is a Tamil Magazine & it becomes a must to have a Tamilian in the Board and Not somebody who knows Tamil.

4 Comic Cuts 51 – News 51: மகாபாரதம் ஃக்ராபிக் நாவல் + ஸ்டார் காமிக்ஸ் விமர்சனம் தினமலரில்

டியர் காமிரேட்ஸ்,

சமீப காலங்களில் பதிவுலகம் பக்கம் வருவதற்கே நேரமில்லாமல் இருப்பதால், இரண்டு மூன்று பதிவுகள் ஃட்ராப்ட்டிலேயே உறங்கிக்கொண்டு இருக்கின்றது. இந்த மாத இறுதிக்குள் அவற்றை வலையேற்ற முயற்சிக்கிறேன். அதற்குள்ளாக ஒரு இடைச்செருகலாக இந்த காமிக் கட்ஸ் பதிவு. நம்முடைய காமிக் கட்ஸ் பதிவுகளில் இது 51ஆவது பதிவு என்பது Stats ரீதியிலான சிறப்பு அம்சம்.

மகாபாரதம் - ஃக்ராபிக் நாவல் காணொளி வடிவில்: புகழ் பெற்ற காமிக்ஸ்/ஃக்ராபிக் நாவல் கதாசிரியர் Grant Morrisson பற்றி உங்களுக்கு நான் சொல்லி தெரியவேண்டியதில்லை. அவரைப் பற்றி தேடினால் விக்கியும், கூகுளாண்டவரும் தேவைக்கு அதிகமான தகவல்களை தருவார்கள். இவருடன் பல ஃக்ராபிக் நாவல்களில் பணியாற்றிய என்னுடைய ஓவிய நண்பர் இவற்றைப்பற்றி மணிக்கணக்கில் புகழ்ந்து பேசி இவரைப்பற்றிய மதிப்பை எனக்குள் உயர்த்தி இருக்கிறார்.

இவருடன் நம்முடைய இந்திய காமிக்ஸ் விற்பன்னர்களான ஷரத் தேவராஜனும், கோதம் சோப்ராவும் இணைந்து இந்திய கதைகளை உலகுக்கு அறிமுகப்படுத்த உருவாக்கிய நிறுவனமே Graphic India. கடந்த பத்தாண்டுகளில் உலக அளவில் அதிகம் விற்பனையான புத்தகங்களையோ / திரைப்பட வரிசைகளையோ கூர்ந்து கவனித்தால் அவற்றில் பெரும்பாலானவை மேஜிக்கல் ரியாலிசம் (புராதான காலத்து கதை, ராஜா ராணி, விசித்திர ஜந்துக்கள், கடவுள்கள் மற்றும் அவர்களின் சார்ந்த கதைகள்) என்றே இருக்கும். ஒரு ஹாரி பாட்டரும், லார்ட் ஆப் தி ரிங்ஸ் தொடரும் மாத்திரமே இங்கே இல்லை. பல தொடர்கள், பல சினிமாக்கள், பல கதைகள்.

இப்படிப்பட்ட சூழலில் தான் இந்த மகாபாரதம் இங்கே ஃக்ராபிக் நாவல் மற்றும் காணொளி வடிவில் தயாரிக்கப்படுகிறது என்பதை கருத்தில் கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

சான் டியாகோ காமிக் கானில் க்ராண்ட் மோரிசன்னும் நம்ம கோதம் சோப்ரா மற்றும் சரத் தேவராஜன் உடன் இணைந்து மகாபாரதம் பற்றி கொடுத்த மிகவும் விரிவான பேட்டி இது. நேரம் கிடைக்கும்போது பொறுமையாக பாருங்கள். நம்முடைய இதிகாசத்தை அயல்நாட்டை சேர்ந்த ஒருவரின் மதிப்பீடாகவே இதனை நான் பார்க்கிறேன். நம்முடைய கதாபாத்திரங்களை அவர்கள் உச்சரிக்கும் விதமும், சில பெயர்களை உச்சரிக்க முடியாமல் சுருக்கி அழைப்பதும் நிஜம்மாகவே சிரிப்பை வரவழைக்கிறது. உதாரணமாக யுதிஷ்டிரன் (அதாங்க, நமகெல்லாம் தர்மர் என்று சொலப்படுவாறே, அவர்) பெயரை உச்சரிக்க கஷ்டப்பட்டு "யுதிஷ்" என்று அழைப்பதும், அதுவும் துரியோதனனே அவ்வாறு அழைப்பதும் முரண் நகையின் உச்சம்.

பகுதி 1 - நான்கு யுகங்களின் கதை: இந்த மகாபாரதம் தொடர் ஃக்ராபிக் நாவல் வடிவில் மட்டுமின்றி காட்சி தொடராகவும் உருப்பெற்று இருக்கிறது. க்ராபிக் இந்தியா நிறுவனத்தின் வலைதளத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு வெள்ளிகிழமையும் ஒரு பகுதியாக இதுவரை மொத்தம் ஐந்து பகுதிகள் வெளியாகி இருக்கின்றது. இதோ இதுதான் அந்த தொடரின் முதல் பகுதி.

பகுதி 2 - கண்ணனின் பேச்சு: ஜீவன் J காங்'கின் கைவண்ணத்தில் ஓவியங்கள் வழக்கமான பாணியிலேயே அமைந்து இருக்கின்றன. நம்முடைய நேர்த்தியான கட்டமைப்பு கொண்ட காமிக்ஸ் கதைகளை படித்தோருக்கு இந்த மாதிரியான ஓவிய ஒழுங்கு பிடிக்காமல் போகலாம். ஆனால் ரசிக்கும்படியாகவே அமைந்து இருக்கிறது. மறக்காமல் பாருங்கள்.

பகுதி 3 - பாண்டவர்களின் மறு வருகை: வழக்கமாக க்ராண்ட் மோரிசன்னின் கதையமைப்பில் இருக்கும் டெம்பிளேட் வகையிலேயே இந்த கதையிலும் பீமனின் கதா பாத்திரம் அமைக்கப்பட்டு இருக்கிறது. மேலும் நான் பார்த்த / படித்த மகாபாரதத்தில் கேட்டறியாத சில சம்பவங்கள் இந்த தொடரில் வருவதும் புதுமையாகவே இருக்கிறது.

பகுதி 4 -  பீஷ்மரின் கோபம்: இதுதான் நான் குறிப்பிட்ட அந்த பகுதி. யாராவது இப்படி ஒரு சம்பவம் நாம் பார்த்த / படித்த மகாபாரதத்தில் வருகிறதா? இல்லையா என்று பின்னூட்ட பகுதியில் தெரிவித்தால் நலம். கவிஞர்களுக்கு என்று ஒரு சுதந்திரம் வழங்கப்படுவதை போல, லாஜிக் விஷயத்தில் நம்ம சினிமா இயக்குனர்கள் ஒரு சுதந்திரம் எடுத்துக்கொள்வது போல இங்கே க்ராண்ட் மோரிசன் ஏதாவது சுதந்திரம் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு அவரே இந்த காட்சியை அமைத்தாரா என்பதே என் கேள்வி.

ஓவியர் விஜயன் அவர்களின் கைவண்ணத்தில் - அயல்கிரகத்தில் ராஜா: புதியதாக இந்தியாவில் ஆரம்பிக்கப்படும் காமிக்ஸ் / க்ராபிக் நிறுவனங்கள் கையில் எடுக்கும் ஒரு தளம் - இதிகாச / புராண கால கதைகள். இந்தியா என்றாலே இப்படித்தான் என்று ஒரு காட்சி விரிந்து அது க்ளீஷே ஆகும் அளவிற்கு இப்படிப்பட்ட கதைகள் வந்துக்கொண்டுதான் இருக்கின்றது. எவ்வளவோ கதை தளங்கள் இருக்கையில் இப்படி ஒன்றின் பின்னே ஓடி வருவதின் ரகசியம் எனக்கு இது வரையில் புரியவில்லை.

இப்படி இல்லாமல் சற்று வித்தியாசமாக அமைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்த கதைகளில் நான் விரும்பி ரசித்து படித்தது ஒரு கதை வரிசையை. அதைப்பற்றி விரைவில் பதிவிடுகிறேன்

அது வரையில் இந்த கதையை பற்றி சற்று கவனிப்போம். சென்ற ஆண்டு டிஸ்னி மூலம் திரைக்கு வந்த ஜான் கார்ட்டர் திரைப்படம் நினைவிருக்கிறதா? டார்ஜான் கதாசிரியர் எட்கர் ரைஸ் பர்ரோஸ் அவர்களின் கதையான இது நூறு ஆண்டுகள் கழித்து இப்போதுதான் திரைக்கு வந்தது. ஒரு பூலோகவாசி திடீரென்று அயல்கிரகத்திற்கு வந்தடைகிறான். அந்த உலகமே அவனுக்கு புரியாத புதிராக இருக்கிறது. திடீரென்று அவன் வேட்டையாடப் படுகிறான். தப்பிக்கும்போது நண்பர்கள் உருவாகிறார்கள், பின்னர் அந்த கிரகத்தில் நடக்கும் உள்நாட்டு அரசியலில் நுழைகிறான்.

இப்போது நமது செய்தியில் இருக்கும் காமிக்ஸ் பற்றிய செய்தியை பார்ப்போம். D.I. காமிக்ஸ் (Digitally Inspired Comics) என்று பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்ட இந்த நிறுவனம் சுராஜ் குமாரால் இயக்கப்படுகிறது. இவர்களின் முதல் வெளியீடாக "அயல் கிரகத்தில் ராஜா - Alien Raja" என்ற காமிக்ஸ் கதையை ஓவியர் விஜயன் அவர்களின் துணையுடன் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

நம்முடைய இந்திய ராஜா ஒருவர் (ராஜா என்றாலே அது புராதான காலம்தானே?) அயல் கிரகத்தில் நிகழ்த்தும் சாகசங்களே இந்த கதையின் மையகருவாக  அமைக்கப்பட்டு இருப்பது இதன் ஸ்பெஷல். இந்த ஆண்டின் இறுதியில் மும்பையில் நடைபெறவிருக்கும் காமிக் கானில் இந்த கதையை புத்தக வடிவில் வெளியிட உள்ளார்கள்.

பேட் மேன் & ராபின் - என்ன கொடுமை சார் இது? ஏற்கனவே டின்டின் பற்றி இப்படி ஒரு தகவல் மூன்று ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பாக கிளம்பியது இந்த தளத்தை தொடர்ந்து வாசிக்கும் நண்பர்களுக்கு நினைவிருக்கலாம். இப்போது அதைப்போலவே கிளப்பப்பட்டுள்ளது ஒரு புதிய கதை - பேட் மேன் & ராபின் இருவரும் ஓரின சேர்க்கையாளர்களாம்.

ஏற்கனவே ஆஸ்திரேலியாவில் ரிட்டையர் ஆன அனைத்து கிரிக்கெட் விளையாட்டாளர்களும் தங்களது புத்தகம் விற்பனை ஆக சச்சின் பற்றி சர்ச்சைக்குரிய விதத்தில் எதையாவது எழுதுவது என்பதை ஒழுக்க நெறியாகவே கடைப்பிடித்து வரும் இந்த வேளையில், சூப்பர் ஹீரோக்களை பற்றிய ஒரு புத்தகம் எழுதும்போது என்ன செய்யலாம் என்று ரூம் போட்டு யோசித்து செய்தது போல நடந்துள்ளது இந்த விஷயம்.

மார்க்கோ மேன்கசொலா (பெயரிலேயே மேன் இருப்பதை கவனியுங்கள்) என்கிற பத்தி எழுத்தாளர் (சொல்லாடல் உபயோகம் - நன்றி பேயோன்) தன்னுடைய புத்தக விற்பனை சூடுபிடிக்க இப்படி ஒரு விஷயத்தை கிளப்பியுள்ளார். மார்க்கோ தன்னுடைய சூப்பர் ஹீரோக்களின் காதல் (காம?) வாழ்க்கை என்கிற புத்தகம் விற்பனைக்கு வந்துள்ள நிலையில் அதைப்பற்றி ஏதாவது சர்ச்சைக்குரிய விஷயம் கிளம்பினால் ஒழிய அந்த புத்தகத்தை சீண்டுவாரில்லை என்பதால் இப்படி எழுதி இருக்கிறார் (என்பது என் எண்ணம்).

ஸ்டார் காமிக்ஸ் - தின மலர் புத்தக விமர்சனம்: ஸ்டார் காமிக்ஸ் இதழ் வெளியீடு சென்னையில் 2008ஆம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் மாதம் நடந்தது. அதனைப்பற்றிய செய்திகள் தினமலர், தி இந்தியன் எக்ஸ்பிரெஸ், தினசரி  போன்ற காலை நாளிதழ்களிலும், ஜெயா டிவி, ஜெயா செய்திகள் போன்ற ஊடகங்களிலும் இடம்பெற்றது. குமுதம் (அ) குங்குமம் மற்றும் தி சன்டே இண்டியன் ஆகிய வாரந்திர இதழ்களிலும் வெளியானது. நண்பர் சுந்தர புத்தன் அவர்கள் அட்டகாசமான ஒரு கட்டுரையை அப்போதுதான் எழுதி எனக்கு அறிமுகம் ஆனார். இப்போது அந்த கட்டுரைகளை எல்லாம் தேடிக்கொண்டு இருக்கிறேன். கடந்த ஐந்து ஆண்டுகளில் 3 முறை மடிக்கணினி மாற்றியதால் பல போட்டோக்கள், ஸ்கான்கள் எங்கே இருக்கின்றன என்பதே தெரியாமல் இருக்கிறது. நண்பர்கள் யாரிடமாவது இருந்தாலும் எனக்கு மின்னஞ்சல் மூலமாக அனுப்பலாம்.

ஸ்டார் காமிக்ஸின் வெளியீட்டு விழாவில் கலந்து கொண்ட நண்பரும் எழுத்தாளருமான திரு எஸ் ரா அவர்கள் இதனைப்பற்றி ஒரு சிறு குறிப்பாக தன்னுடைய கட்டுரை ஒன்றில் போட்டோவுடன் குறிப்பிட்டு இருந்தார் (7ஆவது பத்தி). இதோ அதற்க்கான லிங்க்: http://www.sramakrishnan.com/?p=522

7 Comic Cuts 38-News 38: வெற்றிவேல் வீரவேல் - தினமலர் நாளிதழின் சிறப்பு காமிக்ஸ் வெளியீடு–தைப்பூச சிறப்பிதழ் 07-02-2012

தமிழின் முன்னணி நாளிதழாகிய தினமலர் உடன் இன்றைக்கு (தைப்பூசம்) சிறப்பு வெளியீடாக வெற்றிவேல் வீரவேல் என்கிற ஒரு காமிக்ஸ் புத்தகத்தை வெளியிடுகிறார்கள்.  தமிழில் ஏற்கனவே தரமான கதைகளை காமிக்ஸ் வடிவில் கொண்டு சேர்த்ததில் தினமலருக்கு ஒரு சிறப்பான இடமுண்டு. குறிப்பாக ஆரம்பகால சிறுவர் (வண்ண) மலர். பின்னர் காலப்போக்கில் அவை (ரசனை உட்பட) மாறினாலும், வெய்யில் காலத்து மாலைநேரச்சாரல் போல திடீரென்று சில காமிக்ஸ் கதைகளை வெளியிட்டு அசத்துவதில் தினமலருக்கு ஈடு தினமலரே.

கடந்த ஆண்டு தீபாவளியன்று இவ்வாறு ஒரு அசத்தலான காமிக்ஸ் இதழை வெளியிட்டு இருந்ததை காமிரேட்டுகள் அவ்வளவு சுலபத்தில் மறந்து இருக்க மாட்டார்கள். அதற்க்கு அடுத்ததாக இன்று தைப்பூச சிறப்பு வெளியீடாக இந்த வெற்றிவேல் வீரவேல் என்கிற காமிக்ஸ் புத்தகம் வந்து (வரப்போகிறது?) இருக்கிறது. இவ்வாறாக, இனிமேல் வருடத்திற்கு ஐந்து முதல் ஆறு சிறப்பு வெளியீடுகளாக காமிக்ஸ் கதைகளை தினமலர் நாளிதழ் வெளியிடப்போவதாக பட்சி ஒன்று என் காதில் கூறியதை இங்கே தெரிவிக்கவும் கடமைப்பட்டுள்ளேன்.

இந்த சிறப்பு வெளியீட்டிற்காக கடந்த இரண்டு நாட்களாக தினமலர் சென்னை பதிப்பில் தொடர்ந்து விளம்பரங்கள் வந்ததோடிலாமல், இன்று சென்னையின் பல இடங்களிலும் இந்த செய்தி குறித்த போஸ்டர்களை காணப்பெற்றோம். மறக்காமல் இன்றைய தினமலர் நாளிதழை வாங்குவதோடில்லாமல், நண்பர்களுக்கும் பரிந்துரைக்குமாறு கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறேன்.

10 Comic Cuts 33-News 33: Death of Spider Man, ACK Launching New Series & Osama in Comics

Welcome Back. Heavy workload is the reason for the delay in this particular Comic Cuts post. These news were available last week itself and yours truly was not able to post them immediately. Especially the new on the death of Spider Man was one of the most interesting news articles that was on print in the recent times. Apart from that, there were couple of other news articles also worth mentioning and we will discuss them in the later part of the post. TCU is posting this while burning the mid-night oil in order to make sure that the number of posts in a month is maintained at a minimum of 5 per month. More on them later and lets get on with the news articles first.

01 Times of India – Death of Spider-Man: Whenever there is a decline in the sales of a particular series, the editorial team is in a dire situation to make amends with that. Most of them time, the American authors-though, make sure that the Super hero gets killed. And the event will be much publicised in order to cash in on the moment. Later on, they do some gimmick to get them back by giving one excuse or the other. The latest in the list to join is Peter Parker. While the news on the death was carried out on the same day in the first page, the next day it was on the editorial content page to have a mention about the same. The title itself is catchy and the way they have tried to relate the Bollywood with the different imprints of the spider-man comics is really likeable.

Three days later, there was one more article on the same news paper and this time it was not on the same hero. However, it was on the whole issue of the death of the super heroes and they have tried to tabulate the heroes who have so far given their lives in order to save the jobs of the editors of the respective imprints. They have missed certain heroes on the list as well. To name one, was the Green lantern.

02 The Hindu - ACK Launching Temple Tales: Here is a wonderful news for all those ACK fans who were complaining that there was no new stories or series from ACK, of late. In this exclusive interview to The Hindu, Reena Puri (Editor-ACK) explains the concept of Temple series and just have a look at the fantastic artwork associated with the article. Yours truly is eagerly waiting for the book to have a look into the fantastic artwork. By the way, The next post in TCU will feature Tinkle. Reason? Just wait and watch out.

03 Times of India – Book on Osama’s Killing: Whenever there was a Big news, The creators will find a way or two to link that with their form. Most of the time, the Comics form is the best way to express the feelings. Yours truly still remembers the Story where Spider-Man is trying to help all those people in a Tamil Comics. Hence when the news broke out on the killing of Osama, TCU was discussing about the possibility of this being made into a Comics. Dr 7’s choice was Raj Comics as they have a penchant for this kind of thing. Old ComiRades may still remember how Doga took over the 26/11 Incident in one of the Raj Comics Books.

Welcome back to TCU after a 2 week hiatus. Official commitments & Travel kept Yours truly a lot more busy than what is usually expected in those 2 weeks. The Hindu – MS Subbulakshmi Graphical Biography: Of late, there is a sustained development in the field of Graphic novels in South India. Adding to the growing list is a book on the legendary Dr M.S.Subbulakshmi. The Book is amazing and though TCU wanted to review it on the world Music Day, the usual commitments took over and the post got postponed (Pun intended). Deccan Chronicle – MS Subbulakshmi Graphical Biography: In Comics / Graphic novels review, It is not often that a news article about the same issue appeared in 2 different news papers. However, last month we had a news on Harappa Files and this month we have news about the graphic novel on M.S.Subbulakshmi. It is unfortunate that Times of India is lost out on that & going by the speed and consistency of TOI, We may see that article in couple of weeks time in Friday column.

Before getting onto the article, spare a moment to have a look on the author’s name. Yes, this particular article is penned by Celebrated Cricket writer R. Mohan. Old times may fondly recall his articles on The Hindu on cricket. Yours truly started buying DC only for the fact that he was writing on it. Even now, he carries the same charisma in his words. The most interesting piece of news is the availability of Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist being available in Graphic novel format. Long time back, Yours truly was taken into the world of Coelho by my Brother. Though TCU is no longer into hard reading, every now and then the indulgence comes back like a smitten cobra. One such interest is now on The graphic novel on The Alchemist. The book looks ravishing with such wonderful colouring. Very soon, we may even have a review of the same over here.
